CN Tower Climb Pics

Based on the principle “better late than never” I have uploaded some of the pictures from the climb.

I don’t know why but these guys were running and not climbing the CN Tower :)

Please see the SPi Gallery for more pictures.

Climbing Tips

I thought I would share a few tips on climbing the tower.

  1. Wear gloves. The best kind are light gloves with grips on the palms and fingers. Cycling gloves are good for this - you can get a decent pair at Mountain Equipment Coop for about $20. They will help you grip the railings as you go up. This is really helpful because you can use your hands/arms/upper body to help climb (and not just your legs).
  2. Pace yourself, especially at the bottom of the tower (early in the climb).  If you get winded early, then you’ll have to stop many more times along the way to catch your breath.
  3. Wear light clothing and good athletic shoes. A headband is also useful to keep perspiration out of your eyes. Don’t carry anything unnecessary up with you. Note that they enforce a “hands-free climb” - you’re only allowed to take keys and ID up with you (no water bottles). They give you water at the top.
